Knee Pain
Have You Been Told to Stop Your Running or Walking to Stop Your Knee Pain? Are You Relying on Pain Medication or Cortisone Shot to Temporarily Relieve Your Knee Pain?
Hello, this is Dr. Andrew Lee, your acupuncturist and physical therapist of Frisco.
From my experience in treating knee pain with acupuncture and physical therapy, I have heard many people on their first visit tell me that someone suggested to him or her that best way to stop knee pain was to simply rest and to avoid running or walking. Yes, there are at times where rest is needed to bring down inflammation which might be irritating your knee. But, that is NOT the only solution. In reality, people might feel better after rest but when they return to running, to walking, or to their everyday activities, the same knee pain returns or feels even worse than before.
For your reference, I have summarized below some of the important information on knee pain. I will be more than happy to talk to you over the phone or see you in person for our free discovery visit to help answer any of questions you might have in regards to your knee pain, acupuncture, physical therapy, and acutherapy. Please do not hesitate to contact us.
What is Knee Pain?
Our knee joint is particularly susceptible to injuries and pain as it takes the full weight of our body and any extra force during activities such as jumping and running. It maybe be experienced as dull, achy, and sore pain in front of the knee. Or, it can be sharp, catching, and even crunching type of sensation or pain during movement. Our knees act as a main absorber of our weight and any issues can cause disruption in our body’s foundation especially in standing activities.
